Safety & Scoring

Practice Scenarios

Scenario-Based Learning:

  • Role-Playing Dangerous Situations: Use scenario-based training where staff handle potentially dangerous situations, such as breaking up a fight between a DTL 9 dog and a smaller dog. Train them to score both dogs and use proper safety interventions.
  • Group Dynamics: Train staff to use the D.R.A.W. system when managing group play. For instance, if a high-energy dog with a high DTL enters the group, staff should assess the group’s red zone potential to ensure safety.

Learning Through Simulation:

  • Create a mock daycare environment where staff manage dogs with various DTL and RZP scores. Have them adjust playgroups, identify when a dog should be removed, and practice utilizing isolation zones.

Reflection and Review:

After each scenario, conduct a debrief session where staff review what went well, where they can improve, and what could have been done to prevent escalation. This instills a deeper understanding of how to integrate the D.R.A.W. system effectively.
